India is one of the most promising markets for CHCI, not just to meet its growing local power demand, but also with regard to serve globally-oriented OEM – may they be located in India or abroad.
MR is partner in other joint ventures for both production of different high voltage products and service business. However, Aditya Birla Power Composites will remain the sole joint venture for CHCI, as Reinhausen Power Composites is already operating on a global scale with factories in Germany and France. As a family-owned company, we do systematically acknowledge superior local input by long-lasting partnership.
MR actually operates three facilities in India: a subsidiary for transformer accessories and now two joint ventures (Aditya Birla Power Composites in Halol, Easun-MR Tap Changers in Chennai). We strongly believe in the potential of India – both as an evolving local market for quality products and as an interesting manufacturing base for our global business.
In an exclusive interaction with T&D India shortly after Grasim Industries Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture company (JVC) in India with Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) of Germany for the manufacturing and sale of composite hollow core insulators (CHCI) to serve the power transmission and distribution industry globally.
