State power utility Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL or MPTransco) has augmented the capacity of its 220kV Chichli substation in the Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

In a release, MPPTCL said that the utility has energized an additional 160 MVA power transformer at the Chichli substation, potentially strengthening the power transmission capacity of the entire Narshingpur district.

According to Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, apart from strengthening the power transmission capacity of the Narsinghpur district, the additional transformer will also provide relief to loading at the 220kV Pipariya substation in the Narmadapuram district.

Now, power transmission from the 220kV Pipariya substation to the Narsinghpur district will be controlled through the 132kV Bankhedi and Pondar substations. If needed, power flow from the Chichli substation to the 220kV Pipariya substation in the Narmadapuram district will also be possible.

With the energization of this transformer, the 220kV Chichli substation — from where electricity is supplied to Barman, Karakbel, Karpgaon, and Gadarwara substations in Narsinghpur district – will get relief. MPPTCL noted that various 132kV substations like Gadarwara, Karpgaon, Palohabada, Pondhar, Tendukheda, and Barman, located in the said district, will get reliable quality power supply at a proper voltage from the Chichli substation.

Impact on transformation capacity

The transmission capacity of Narsinghpur district now stands enhanced to 1,682 MVA. MPPTCL transmits electricity through 12 substations in this district – two of 220kV and ten of 132kV. The enhanced capacity includes 640 MVA on the 220kV side and 1,522 MVA at the 132kV level.
