The transmission line maintenance (TLM) team of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Ltd (MPPTCL) recently conducted emergency restoration of a transmission tower that was affected due to theft of parts, leading to widespread power disruption in Panna district of the state.

In a release, MPPTCL said that due to the skill and dedication of the TLM team, the transmission tower was repaired and electricity supply restored within 12 hours, which would have taken 3-4 days in normal circumstances.

While carrying out the restoration under the scorching heat, the TLM team had to handle transmission tower angles and iron parts, as hot as 50°C. Working continuously in challenging conditions, MPPTCL could complete repair work on the damaged tower and restore power supply within 12 hours, by 8:45 pm.

Theft of parts

In a release, MPPTCL said that the transmission tower of ERS located at village Bhad was damaged due to theft of parts. This tower, on location number 85-86, is part of the 132kV Satna – Devendra Nagar – Panna transmission line. Due to the damage to the transmission tower, at around 8:45 am, electricity supply to the Pawai, Majhgawan, Ajaygarh, Brijpur and Devendra Nagar areas of Panna district was adversely affected.

Similar case

Just a few days prior to this theft, MPPTCL witnessed a similar situation with transmission towers in the Rewa-Amarpatan area, resulting in power disruption in the entire Vindhya region, the MPPTCL release said.
