NHPC, in a release, said that it has placed an EPC order on Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd for a solar project in Odisha.

The EPC order worth Rs.188.19 crore was placed on May 24, 2021, for development of a 40-mw solar power project in Ganjam district, NHPC said.

The plant is expected to commission within a period of 12 months.

The contract includes installation of the solar power plant along with the associated 220kV transmission line for connectivity up to the 220kV transmission system of state utility Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (OPTCL). The transmission link will be established through a LILO (loop in, loop out) provision. NHPC added that the EPC contract would also involve comprehensive O&M for a period of 10 years.

The plant is coming up on government land acquired by NHPC through state agency Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, popularly known as IDCO.

Power generated from the project will be procured by Grid Corporation of Odisha Ltd (GRIDCO) for the entire project life of 25 years. The 40-mw solar power project has been sanctioned by Union Ministry for New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Solar Park scheme.
