NHPC plans to enter solar manufacturing, signs MoU

Central power sector PSU NHPC Ltd plans to enter the solar manufacturing space for which it has signed an MoU with another public sector entity Bharat Electronics Ltd.

In a brief stock exchange communication, NHPC said that on August 23, 2022, the company signed an MoU with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) for setting up a gigawatt-scale integrated solar manufacturing unit. No further details were divulged.

The MoU was signed by Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects), NHPC, and Vinay Kumar Katyal, Director (Bangalore Complex), Bharat Electronics Ltd.

 

Projects in Nepal

In an independent development earlier this month, NHPC signed an MoU with Investment Board Nepal (IBN), a government of Nepal entity, at Kathmandu in Nepal. The MoU is for preparation of detailed project report and development of two hydropower projects in Nepal. The projects in question are West Seti (750 mw) and Seti River-6 (450 mw).

The MoU was signed by A. K. Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, NHPC, and Sushil Bhatta, Chief Executive Officer, IBN, in the presence of Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba,
