NTPC has planned to set up an operation control room run entirely by women workforce, the Central PSU said in a release.

Meanwhile, on Women’s Equality Day, which fell on August 26, NTPC announced that it has recruited its first all-women batch of engineering executive trainees.

Following a recruitment advertisement published in April this year, engineering graduates were selected based on their performance in the “GATE 2021” examination, in the fields of electrical, mechanical, electronics and instrumentation engineering.

Out of 50 offers sent by NTPC, 30 female executive trainees (ET) have already joined the company between July 31, 2021 and August 6, 2021.  This special all-female ET batch is currently undergoing a customized induction-cum-training programme at NTPC’s Regional Learning Institutes (RLIs) located at NTPC Sipat, NTPC Vindhyachal and NTPC Simhadri in the mechanical, electrical and control & instrumentation (C&I) disciplines.

NTPC is establishing regular interaction of new recruiters with the senior management and other employees to ensure that the youngsters are assimilated into the spirit and culture of the organization, the release said.

“NTPC has always believed in providing equal opportunity to all the sections of society and has consciously promoted diversity through its hiring practices,” the release added.
