NTPC plans ultra mega RE park in Rajasthan

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has signed an MoU with the Rajasthan government for development of an ultra mega renewable energy (RE) park in the northern state.

The proposed RE park with 10 GW of capacity will help achieve the 60-GW RE capacity target, to be attained by 2032, of NTPC Group.  NTPC REL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd.

The MOU signing ceremony was held on 1st July, 2022 at Jaipur in the august presence of Energy Minister of Rajasthan, Bhanwar Singh Bhati. The MOU documents were exchanged between Bhaskar A. Sawant, Principal Secretary (Energy), Government of Rajasthan and Mohit Bhargava, Chief Executive Officer, NTPC REL.

T. Ravikanth, Chairman, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL), Anil Dhaka, MD, RRECL, Rajiv Gupta, CGM, NTPC REL along with other officials of Rajasthan government and NTPC REL graced the event, a release by NTPC said.

NTPC REL has so far won 4 GW Renewable Energy capacity by bidding in various tenders which are under different stages of implementation. Additionally, NTPC REL is developing one UMREPP of 4.75 GW capacity in Rann of Kutch, Gujarat and NTPC REL has also entered into a joint venture agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation for developing RE parks and projects.
