NTPC REL signs PPA for solar projects in Madhya Pradesh

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) and other project agreements with respect to its solar power projects in Madhya Pradesh.

In a release, NTPC said that its wholly-owned subsidiary NTPC REL has signed a PPA and other project agreements with Indian Railways, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL) and Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd (RUMSL).

The agreements are with respect to 325-mw worth of solar power projects that NTPC RE is developing at the Shajapur Solar Park of RUMSL in Madhya Pradesh.

The pact was signed in the august presence of Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and R.K. Singh, Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy on November 25, 2021.

NTPC REL has won a capacity of 105 mw quoting Rs.2.35 per kwh, and also a capacity of 220 mw quoting ₹2.33 per kwh in the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd’s auction held on July 19, 2021 for 450 mw of solar projects at Shajapur Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh.

NTPC has so far won more than 6 GW of renewable energy capacity through competitive bidding, NTPC said in the release.

Dedication of new thermal units

In an independent development, Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, in the presence of R.K Singh Union Minister of Power and  New & Renewable Energy will do the “Lokarpan” (dedication to the people) of Stage -II 500 mw (2×250-MW) of NTPC Barauni Thermal Power Station and Unit #1 (660 mw ) of NTPC Barh Super Thermal Power project on November 27, 2021.
