PGCIL approves over Rs.4,800 crore investment in western region

The board of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has approved an investment of over Rs.4,800 crore directed towards the grid expansion in western India.

The investment approved will be spread over the following three projects:

 

  • Transmission network expansion in Gujarat to increase ATC (average transfer capacity) from ISTS: Part B at an estimated cost of Rs. 4,546.26 crore, scheduled to be commissioned by June 2023.

 

  • Transmission network expansion in Gujarat to increase ATC from ISTS: Part C at an estimated cost of Rs.186.19 crore scheduled to be commissioned matching with establishment of 400/220kV Prantij substation and 400kV Sankhari-Prantij  double-circuit line. This substation and line are being developed by state utility GETCO (Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd), and are likely to be commissioned by March 2025 by current thinking.

 

  • Western Region Expansion Scheme XXVI at an estimated cost of Rs.127.61 crore scheduled to be commissioned matching with downstream 220kV lines being implemented by MSETCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd), presently expected by June 2024.
