PGCIL commissions Fatehgarh transmission scheme in Rajasthan

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has commissioned a transmission scheme in Rajasthan, awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mode, and developed by its wholly-owned subsidiary Powergrid Fatehgarh Transmission Ltd.

In a stock exchange filing, PGCIL said that the said scheme has been commissioned has started commercial operations on September 1, 2021.

The transmission project, officially known as “Transmission system associated with LTA applications from Rajasthan SEZ Part-B” is meant to evacuate power from upcoming mega solar power projects in the desert state.

The overall project has the following components:

  • 765kV double-circuit Fatehgarh-II – Bhadla-II transmission line
  • Two 765kV bays each at Fatehgarh-II and Bhadla-II substations
  • 240MVAR switchable line reactor on each circuit at the Fatehgarh II end

 

PGCIL had won this project in October 2019 and it was originally scheduled to commission by December 2020.
