Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) announced that it has completed the acquisition of three project special purpose vehicles, incorporated for the development of interstate transmission system (ISTS) schemes.

In independent stock exchange filings, PGCIL announced that it has completed the acquisition of following three project SPVs from the bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL):

  • Bhadla-Sikar Transmission Ltd
  • Raipur Pool Dhamtari Transmission Ltd
  • Dharamjaigarh Transmission Ltd

As reported by T&D India on March 9, 2023, PGCIL had emerged as the successful bidder for the above projects, under the tariff-based competitive bidding mechanism.

The transmission schemes to be developed by the above-mentioned project SPVs are officially termed as:

  1. Bhadla-Sikar Transmission Ltd: “Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for Evacuation of Power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-E”
  2. Raipur Pool Dhamtari Transmission Ltd: “Western Region Expansion Scheme- XXVII (WRES-XXVII)”
  3. Dharamjaigarh Transmission Ltd: “Western Region Expansion Scheme- XXVIII (WRES-XXVIII) and XXIX (WRES-XXIX)”

These newly acquired SPVs will now approach Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) for the grant of transmission licence and adoption of transmission charges.
