PIGL subsidiary Peaton Electricals launches new “PhiBar” busduct system

Power Instrumentation (Gujarat) Ltd [PIGL] has announced that its subsidiary Peaton Electricals Company Ltd has launched a new busduct system under the brand “PhiBar”.

In a stock exchange filing, PIGL said that the new product was launched on November 27, 2025 and will cater to the domestic market.

“This product is expected to cater to the operational revenue growth of the company in future,” the PIGL filing said.

“PhiBar” will find application in the power transfer and distribution activity, some of which include:

  • Transformer to switchgear panels
  • Interconnection between switchgear panels
  • Diesel generator to switchgear panels
  • Rising mains or vertical distribution in multi-storey buildings
  • Horizontal power distribution in industrial and commercial facilities

Some features of the new busduct system, as outlined by PIGL, are: space-saving design, strong mechanical strength, low energy & voltage loss, balanced load distribution, etc.

Various models

It is learnt that “PhiBar” will be available across four different variants, depending on the nature of application. These are:

  • PhiBar SSP (Copper conductor busduct system; 800A to 6300A)
  • PhiBar VHD (vertical/horizontal busduct system; 600A to 6300A)
  • PhiBar Aero (Aluminium & copper busduct system: 400A to 2500A)
  • PhiBar MVD (11kV & 33kV non-segregated and segregated type busduct system)

Approval from CPRI

It may be mentioned that in an earlier filing, PIGL noted that Peaton Electricals Company Ltd, on November 27, 2025, received approval from the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Govindpura, Bhopal, for its 11 kV, 3000A segregated phase busduct systems.

This approval marks an important milestone as CPRI is the national authority responsible for testing and certifying electrical equipment for safety, reliability, and performance. With this certification, Peaton Electricals’ busduct system is now validated for use in critical power infrastructure projects across industries.

What is a busduct system?

A busduct system is a specialized arrangement used to safely transfer high-volume electrical power from one point to another. Instead of using multiple heavy cables, a busduct uses enclosed metal conductors, which makes the transfer of electricity more organised, efficient, and secure. A segregated phase busduct ensures that each electrical phase is kept in a separate compartment, reducing heat, improving safety, and preventing electric faults.
