The parental home of Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, is now equipped with a solar rooftop.

The residence called “Milan Kendra”, located in village Paraunkh, 70 km from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, is now powered by a 5-kW solar rooftop installation.

The rooftop solar plant was set up by “HomeScape” – the residential venture of distributed energy company Amplus Solar. The plant was commissioned in the presence of President Kovind’s elder brother Shri Ramswaroop Bharti and was inaugurated by the President himself, a release from Amplus Solar said.

The solar plant was installed within a single day by the HomeScape team, right from site inspection to commissioning, with the assistance of the discom Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, UP Power Corporation and the UP Public Works Department.

The plant is expected to generate a total of 172,500kWh of electricity through its lifetime and will help mitigate 141 tonnes of CO2 emissions, the release said, adding that the quality and design of the system, as well its speedy hassle-free delivery were appreciated.

“Rooftop solar, especially in the residential segment, is an ideal solution for a country like India where land is scarce and expensive. Installing solar at ‘Milan Kendra’ has been an honour for us at Amplus Solar. We are certain this will surely raise awareness and provide a much-needed impetus to the residential solar segment,” according to Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO, Amplus Solar.

In less than two years of its launch, HomeScape by Amplus Solar has built a distributed solar portfolio of over 3 mw, with over 700 customers till date, the release added.
