REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) has announced the incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary “Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission Ltd” that will act as a project special purpose vehicle (SPV) for development of an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) modality.

In a regulatory filing, REC Ltd, the holding company of RECPDCL, said that RECPDCL has incorporated the said SPV, on August 14, 2024, for the development of an ISTS scheme termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-4: 3.5 GW): Part B.”

RECPDCL is acting as the bid process coordinator (BPC) for this ISTS scheme and the said SPV will be transferred to the successful developer that will be selected under the TBCB mechanism. The bid selection process is currently underway.

In T&D India’s report on August 7, 2024, it was informed that RECPDCL incorporated “Rajasthan IV 4A Power Transmission Ltd” on August 6, 2024 and was likely to soon incorporate “4B” as reported in the present story.

Background

The overall scheme ““Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Phase-IV (Part4: 3.5 GW)” envisages power evacuation infrastructure for 3.5 GW of solar generation from two zones in Rajasthan — Fatehgarh-IV (1 GW) and Barmer-I (2.5 GW). This scheme has been divided into two segments – Part A and Part B. Both will be developed under the TBCB modality.

RECPDCL is acting as the BPC for both the parts, and has now incorporated the project SPVs for both the project segments. Click here for project details.

Editor’s note: On October 10, 2023, RECPDCL incorporated a project SPV called “Rajasthan IV A Power Transmission Ltd,” which should not be confused with “Rajasthan IV 4A Power Transmission Ltd.” The former is associated with an ISTS-TBCB scheme known as “Transmission system for evacuation from Rajasthan REZ Phase IV (Part 2: 5.5 GW) (Jaisalmer/Barmer): Part A.”
