Schneider Electric illuminates 350 households in Kargil district

Schneider Electric India Foundation and Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation, in association with Schneider Electric India, recently completed a rural electrification project in Jammu & Kashmir. Under the project, 350 households of Darchik and Garkone villages in Kargil district of the northern state were provided with Mobiya range of portable solar lights.

The foundations organised portable solar light distribution programme at primary school of Darchik village and Jamyang School in Leh district. With this, solar lighting system the residents, especially children, could benefit with improved lighting for late night studying and safety for night time transportation, a release from Schneider Electric India  said.

The Mobiya range of portable products for lighting and mobile charging is an award-winning energy- efficient and eco-friendly LED lamp that provides up to 48 hours of lighting with one day of solar charge, the release added.

Schneider Electric India Foundation the social commitment of Schneider Electric India while Spreading Happiness InDiya Foundation, is backed by sports personality Sachin Tendulkar.

Schneider Electric’s commitment to promote sustainable development and provide safe and clean access to energy is the core of its business. In the past six years, Schneider Electric, as a group, has contributed to providing 5 million people with access to energy. The goal is to reach 50 million people within the next 10 years, the release noted.
