SJVN awards electromechanical package of Luhri HEP to Voith

SJVN Ltd has entered into a contract agreement for electromechanical works of the 210-mw Luhri hydropower project (Stage-1) with Voith Hydro (P) Ltd, the Central PSU said in a release.

The contract was signed in the presence of Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN Ltd, and other dignitaries from SJVN and Voith.

Voith Hydro (P) Ltd is part of the Voith Group, a leading global technology company with headquarters in Germany. The company specializes in electromechanical components of Power Projects.

The electromechanical works amounting to Rs.420.28 crore are to be completed in line with the work schedule of the project, which is targeted for commissioning by May 24, 2025.

It may be mentioned that the civil and hydro-mechanical package was awarded on November 24, 2020, and construction activities are in full swing, the release said.

 

Project details

The Luhri (Stage-1) hydropower project is a run-off the river scheme with diurnal storage and dam-toe surface power house in Shimla and Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The 210-mw project is equipped with four Kaplan turbines – two main units of 80 mw and two auxiliary units of 25 mw each. The project, with an estimated outlay of Rs.1,810 crore, can potentially generate 758 million kwh of electricity in a year.

SJVN Portfolio

Currently, SJVN has portfolio (operational, under-construction and planned) of more than 9,000 mw, coming from 27 projects in hydro, thermal, solar and wind sector, spread over India, Nepal and Bhutan. The Central PSU, formerly known as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, has targeted to attain installed capacity of 5,000 mw by 2023, moving up to 25,000 mw by 2040.
