SJVN signs PUA for Bikaner solar power project

SJVN Ltd has signed a power usage agreement (PUA) with respect to its upcoming 1,000-mw Bikaner solar power project in Rajasthan.

In a release, SJVN said that the PUA for 500 mw of solar power was signed with Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL). Accordingly, 500 mw of solar power capacity shall be supplied to PSPCL from the upcoming 1,000-mw Bikaner solar power project in Rajasthan.

The Bikaner solar power project, currently under construction, is being developed by SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd. The project is slated for commissioning by March 2024.

For the remaining 500 mw capacity, SGEL is in advance stage of discussions with various discoms and the agreements in this regard shall be signed shortly, SJVN said.

The Bikaner project is part of CPSU Scheme and is being developed under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode. SJVN, it may be recealled, has awarded India’s single largest EPC contract amounting to Rs.5,491 crore for this project to Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd.

The Bikaner solar project, on full commissioning, will generate 2,455 million kwh (Gwh) in its first year of operation and 56,838 million kwh will be generated over a period of 25 years. The power generated by the project will be used by government entities, either directly or through discoms.

The Power Usage Agreement was signed by Ajay Singh, Dy. CEO, SGEL and Massa Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, PSPCL, in presence of the senior officials of SGEL and PSPCL.
