Sterling and Wilson Pvt Ltd (SWPL) has announced that it has recently won three new rural electrification orders aggregating around Rs.1,080 crore.

These orders are turnkey projects awarded under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The first order is awarded by Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) in Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, followed by other two orders awarded by South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL) in Nalanda (also covering districts in Nawada) and Gaya.

The projects, aimed at development of distribution infrastructure at electric supply circle, will positively impact the lives of lakhs of people in the regions, and come with a 30-month timeline, Sterling and Wilson said.

First under RDSS

Responding to a query from T&D India, a senior spokesperson from Sterling and Wilson confirmed that this set of orders was the company’s first under RDSS. The order from CSPDCL was received first, followed by those from SBPDCL.

Commenting on the brief scope of works, the spokesperson said that the orders entailed loss reduction works for 33kV and 11kV distribution systems. This would be achieved by feeder segregation, reconductoring, installation of transformers, conversion of overhead conductor to AB (aerial bunched) cable, underground cabling, etc
