Tata Power-DDL has commissioned a 66/11kV GIS grid substation at Narela Industrial Hub in Delhi.
The grid substation was inaugurated at the hands of Satyendar Jain, Power Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, in the presence of Sharad Kumar Chauhan, MLA, Narela and. Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, Tata Power-DDL.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, “The commissioning of this technologically advanced grid substation at Narela is a part of our commitment to ensure seamless power supply to our industrial consumers. The grid will enhance the reliability of power supply and facilitate seamless load growth management at this major industrial hub. I believe that this step will further reinforce our commitment to serve the consumers non-stop and also contribute towards the revival of Delhi’s economy post the unlock.”
Industrial units to benefit
The newly commissioned substation will benefit over 2,000 industrial units in Narela and the adjoining areas like Delhi State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (DSIIDC) Industrial Area, Integrated Freight Corridor (IFC), National Institute of Technology (NIT Delhi), All India Radio, Khampur, Chemical Market (Shahpur Garhi) etc. The substation will further improve the reliability of power supply and facilitate load growth management.
16 outgoing feeders
The grid substation has an installed capacity of 63 MVA, with 16 outgoing feeders at 11kV level. It is an unmanned substation and will be remotely operated from Tata Power-DDL’s SCADA centre. The substation has an incoming supply from four 66kV composite circuits emanating two lines from 220KV Badli Grid and two lines from 66kV TPDDL Narela Grid.
Environment-friendly
The new substation uses environment-friendly and more efficient Lithium-ion batteries as opposed to conventional lead-acid batteries. The substation is of the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) type making it safer, compact and maintenance free with better longevity as compared to the air insulated variant.
Built on 100 per cent pipe foundation, the new Narela grid substation is equipped with two power transformers of 31.5 MVA each, and Nitrogen Injection Fire Protection System (NIFPS) along with auto-switched capacitor bank to ensure safe and quality power supply.
