TP Saurya Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has been awarded a 300-mw hybrid project in Maharashtra.

In a release, Tata Power said that TP Saurya Ltd has received the letter of award for setting up this 300-mw of hybrid (wind and solar) capacity from state power utility Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL or Mahadiscom).

The project has been awarded through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism, followed by an e-reverse auction, and has to be set up within 18 months from the execution of the power purchase agreement (PPA).

Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power said, “It is a proud moment for Tata Power to win this large scale hybrid (wind & solar) power generation project. This will further promote the share of renewable power in the overall energy mix, thus strengthening our position as the market leader in the renewable space. It will also encourage other states to switch to green power to usher in an era of clean energy in the country.”

With this, the total renewable capacity of Tata Power will reach 4,907 mw of which 2,953 mw is installed while the remaining 1,954 mw is under implementation.

One more in Maharashtra

In September this year, TP Saurya won a similar 250-mw grid-connected solar power project in Maharashtra, under the TBCB modality, from state power utility Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco).
