TCIL launches its first EV charging station, over 60 more planned

Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd, on January 20, 2022, inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The Central PSU has planned a total of 65 such – all to be located in south Delhi.

A government release said that TCIL’s first EV charging station, located at “South Extension Part I” in south Delhi was inaugurated at the hands of Ms Meenakshi Lekhi, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, CMD, TCIL.

This e-vehicle charging station is the first one in series of 65 e-charging stations to be setup by TCIL in progressive manner in next four months in South Delhi area within easy reach of citizens of Delhi. Each charging station will be able to charge six 2/3/4-wheelers vehicle at a time.

The charging stations are equipped with CCTV surveillance and Wi-Fi facility for use by common public. Each EV charging station will be powered by a 6kW solar panel, the release said.

The e-vehicle charging station will help in popularizing use of e-vehicle and in reducing pollution in metro city of Delhi, the government release added.
