THDC India appoints Vijay Goel as CMD

THDC India Ltd, in a release, announced the appointment of Vijay Goel as the company’s Chairman and Managing Director.

THDCThe release noted that Goel has been entrusted with this additional charge, effective May 1, 2021. Goel is already discharging the responsibility of Director (Personnel), THDC India Ltd.

Vijay Goel joined THDC India Ltd in 1990 as Senior Personnel Officer from NHPC Ltd. He has more than 35 years of varied experience in the field of human resource management, the release noted.

During his tenure as General Manager (P&A) he was also In-charge of corporate communications, law and arbitration functions.  His key areas of interventions are policy formation, manpower planning, establishment and estate functions, employee relations, compliance of labour laws and overall formulation and implementation of policies. He played vital role in putting in place initial HR systems immediately after the establishment of the corporation, the release added.

 

THDC, now an NTPC subsidiary

THDC India Ltd was incorporated in July 1988 as a joint venture between Government of India (75 per cent equity stake) and Government of Uttar Pradesh (25 per cent). It was originally known as Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd. In March 2020, THDC India became a subsidiary of NTPC when the Central PSU acquired 74.496 per cent equity stake in THDC India for a total consideration of around Rs.7,500 crore. This represented the holding of the Government of India. The remaining 25.504 per cent equity continues to be held by Government of Uttar Pradesh.
