A total of three ISTS-TBCB schemes were fully commissioned in the first quarter (Q1: April to June) of FY27, with the entire achievement concentrated in the single month of June 2026.
According to latest statistics released by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), three ISTS-TBCB schemes were fully commissioned in June 2026. With April and May 2026 drawing a blank, the June 2026 achievement represented that of the entire Q1FY27.
While PGCIL fully commissioned two schemes, G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRIL) recorded one completion.
The broad details of the three schemes are:
Scheme: Transmission system for Ananthapuram (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW) solar energy zones in Andhra Pradesh
Location: Andhra Pradesh
Project SPV: Powergrid Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Ltd (PGCIL)
Project Tariff: Rs.1,288.88 million per year
Scheme: Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ (20 GW) under Phase III, Part H
Location: Rajasthan
Project SPV: Powergrid Beawar Dausa Transmission Ltd (PGCIL)
Project Tariff: Rs.2,002.84 million per year
Scheme: Transmission system for evacuation of power from RE projects in Rajgarh (1000 mw) SEZ in Madhya Pradesh – Phase II
Location: Madhya Pradesh
Project SPV: Pachora Power Transmission Ltd
Project Tariff: Rs.419.74 million per year
As can be seen, all the three projects related to evacuation of renewable energy. With a total project cost of around Rs.3,150 crore, the projects together added 1,311 ckm of transmission lines and 8,000 MVA of transformation capacity.
It may be mentioned that these three schemes were fully commissioned in June 2026. It is likely that some scheme elements could have been commissioned earlier. The aforementioned transmission infrastructure addition therefore does not necessarily signify the achievement in June 2026 alone.
All the three projects experienced time overrun ranging from four months as seen in Pachora to 14 months as was the case with Beawar-Dausa. The Ananthpuram Kurnool scheme overshot its original completion date by around nine months.
Full completion of the overall Beawar-Dausa scheme was delayed due to the 765kV Beawar-Dausa line spanning 474 ckm, which encountered severe RoW constraints in several areas including Ajmer. The other project elements, such as the 765/400kV, 2×1500 MVA Dausa substation, were commissioned with much lesser time overrun.
For G R Infraprojects Ltd, the Pachora scheme marks the company’s second ISTS-TBCB scheme to be fully commissioned, the first being Rajgarh Transmission in March 2024. In fact, the Pachora scheme represents the second phase of RE evacuation from the Rajgarh solar energy zone in Madhya Pradesh. Together, Rajgarh and Pachora will facilitate RE evacuation of 2,500 MW.
