TRIL: High-rating transformers boost sales in Q2 FY22

Transformers of rating 220kV and above boosted the sales of Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd [TRIL] during the second quarter and also the first half of FY22.

In an investor presentation filed on stock exchanges, TRIL said that in Q2 (July to September) of FY22, sales of transformers of rating 220kV or above were 4,585 MVA, more than three times the comparable sales in the same period of FY21. (see table).

This had positive bearing on the H1 performance as well. During the first half (April to September) of FY22, sales of 220kV-plus transformers touched 6,585 MVA – 60.5 per cent higher than the comparable level of FY21.

Sales of transformers of up to 220kV rating, however, showed a year-on-year decline in both Q2 and H1 of FY22.

Nevertheless, overall transformer sales in H1 of FY22 recorded a growth of nearly 16 per cent, reaching 9,908 MVA.

 

Exports dominate

In value terms, TRIL recorded sales of Rs.471 crore in H1 of FY22, as against Rs.286 crore in the same period of FY21.

Exports had a share of 13 per cent in total sales during H1 of FY22, as against 7 per cent in the like period of FY21. TRIL also saw a higher share of utilities of 51 per cent in H1 of FY22 as against 45 per cent in H1 of FY21.

Order book

In Q2 of FY22, TRIL booked orders for reactors worth Rs.25.73 crore from industrial consumers. Tata Group companies also placed orders valued at Rs.22.25 crore, TRIL said. Orders for exports (direct and indirect) worth Rs.44.24 crore were booked in Q2 of FY22.

As of September 30, 2021, TRIL had an outstanding order book position of Rs.910 crore. Besides, TRIL has participated in the bidding process for orders worth over Rs.600 crore involving Central and state utilities, apart from industrial consumers.
