Vikram Solar has extended a helping hand to aid the needy after the disastrous effects of the super cyclone Amphan dealt a damaging blow to West Bengal.

In a statement, the company said that it has come forward to make a contribution to the West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority as an aide to help the people of the state impacted by this super cyclone. Additionally, in association with The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the company has also committed to the distribution of dry food, sanitary products, and other relief materials like tarpaulin sheets to the affected areas in West Bengal.

Cyclone Amphan made landfall near Sagar Island West Bengal on May 20, 2020, with speed touching 185 kmph, claiming lives of over 80 people in the state. While thousands of affected families are suffering through the aftermath of the most intense cyclone, the risk of spreading coronavirus is also looming large. Basis the first level need-assessment by Vikram Solar’s team, the company has committed to “Buidling Back Bengal” by reaching out to the maximum number of people possible with help for their immediate needs.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Managing Director, Vikram Solar Limited expressed: “Vikram Solar was born from the urge to serve the community and the nation. Our deep-rooted relations with the communities have always led us to take immediate steps to contribute and support in stabilizing and improving the nation in crisis. Over the last few days, we have felt the sting of the loss and the misery that super cyclone Amphan inflicted, while we are all still trying to survive through the COVID-19 crisis. We thank the Government for their prompt actions and our support initiative is a testament to our feelings and our commitment to stand with the people of West Bengal and India. “

Last month, in its commitment to the nation and the people, the company had charted out a plan of action to actively participate and contribute to the relief work related to unprecedented health crises caused by COVID-19, the statement added.

PFC contributes to COVID-19 cause: In an independnt development, Power Finance Corporation Ltd  has come forward to provide financial assistance of Rs.123 crore to the Government of Uttarakhand. The fund will be utilized for procurement of 500 PPEs Kits for frontline staff and six fully equipped ambulances which will be handed over to Health Department of Uttarakhand State. The CSR initiative by PFC will further support the preparedness of the state of Uttarakhand in its fight against the spread of COVID-19.
