Wirepas has announced that its Wirepas AMI Platform, is now supported on the SimpleLink™ (CC1354P10 multiband wireless microcontroller (MCU) from Texas Instruments (TI), providing a hardware option for customers and partners deploying large-scale smart electricity metering networks, with initial deployments in India.

“This milestone reflects the continued expansion of our ecosystem in support of smart electricity metering transformation,” said Teppo Hemiä, CEO of Wirepas. “By enabling the Wirepas Platform on TI’s wireless MCU, we provide our partners with greater sourcing flexibility and additional design options, while maintaining full interoperability and performance consistency across deployments.”

“We are proud to partner with Wirepas to deliver a highly reliable long-range sub-1 GHz connectivity solution with SimpleLink™ CC1354P10 multiband wireless microcontroller ideal for India’s smart meter market and beyond. By combining the Wirepas Platform with TI’s leadership in RF performance and nearly three decades of smart meter innovation, we are enabling scalable, resilient AMI networks. Backed by TI’s geopolitically dependable capacity, this collaboration gives smart meter manufacturers the confidence to deploy large scale smart grid infrastructure,” said Marian Kost, vice president and general manager of connectivity at Texas Instruments.

The first focus of Wirepas and TI collaboration is India, which Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) rollout under the RDSS framework represents one of the world’s largest smart metering programs, requiring long-term scalability, operational continuity and supply chain resilience. The availability of the Wirepas Platform on TI devices strengthens ecosystem flexibility and enhances sourcing optionality for meter manufacturers and system integrators operating in this market.

The Wirepas Platform, a decentralized mesh network based on the principles of the NR+ standard, is designed for interoperability and consistent performance independent of the underlying hardware. The addition of TI reinforces Wirepas’ commitment to an open, standards-aligned ecosystem that supports multi-source strategies and avoids vendor lock-in.

Texas Instruments brings proven, high-quality wireless connectivity solutions optimized for India’s unique metering market requirements, delivering the reliability and performance critical for smart grid deployments. With substantial manufacturing investments and geographically diversified supply chain, Texas Instruments provides geopolitically stable and resilient supply chains – a crucial advantage for meter manufacturers and service providers to enable India’s transformational smart metering rollout of over 250 million units in a span of few short years.

With Wirepas support, customers can now design and deploy scalable mesh networks using TI hardware while leveraging Wirepas’ proven connectivity platform already operating in millions of devices in large-scale national infrastructure programs.
