Amp Energy, in a statement, said that it has announced the commissioning of an open access-based solar power project in Karnataka, for Bosch Ltd.

Located in Mallat Village, Raichur district of Karnataka, this is Amp Energy’s third open access project in Karnataka.

Bosch Ltd and Amp Energy India have signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for procurement of solar power.

This solar open access facility will generate about 43 million kwh of green energy per year for Bosch Ltd and will meet about 40 per cent of the latter’s energy consumption.

This project will provide solar power to energize three Bosch’s plants/facilities in and around Bangalore and by switching to solar power, Bosch will also help mitigate about 31,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, the Amp Energy statement said.

“We are thankful to the Bosch team for extending their continuous support to us since the beginning. With this partnership, we are sure Bosch will setup benchmarks for other conglomerates to follow to switch to clean energy for their growth in the country and move towards accomplishing their RE100 targets,” noted Pinaki Bhattacharyya, MD & CEO, Amp Energy India.

According to information available, Amp Energy, inclusive of the newly commissioned project in Maharashtra, has a total of six open-access solar projects with an aggregate installed capacity of around 175 mw. These are located in Maharashtra (30 mw and 13.5 mw), Uttar Pradesh (42 mw) and Karnataka (39 mw, 21 mw and 30 mw).

According to a statement released by Mercom, new solar open access installations in India totalled 307 mw in the third quarter (Q3, July to September) of 2021, an 85 per cent year-over-year growth compared with 166 mw installed in Q3 of 2020.

The pipeline of solar open access projects under development and pre-construction is estimated to be about over 1.1 GW.

During the first nine months (January to September) of 2021, a total of 935 mw of open access solar was installed, more than twice the 385 mw installed during the same period of 2020, the report said.
