India has submitted its long-term low-emission development strategy at COP27, outlining a plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2070. The leaders of this clean energy transition in India met at EnergyScape, India’s biggest energy conclave powered by Amplus Solar, to discuss the way forward.
Besides a specific push for the use of electric vehicles, significant climate investments and green hydrogen production, the seamless ground-level implementation of the existing policy structure took center stage at the conclave.
Speaking at the event, Ms Suman Sharma, MD, Solar Energy Corporation of India, said, “India will continue to play a vital role in energy transition, and the Prime Minister of India has made it clear to make renewable energy a part of everyone’s life”.

This year, the panel discussions at EnergyScape saw participation by distinguished speakers, including Mr Pramod Aggarwal, Chairman, Coal India Ltd (CIL), Ms Gauri Singh, Deputy Director-General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), among others.
Giving an industry perspective to the conversation, Sharad Pungalia, Managing Director and CEO of Amplus Solar, India’s leading distributed solar energy company and a member of PETRONAS, emphasized the need for a holistic approach towards realizing India’s renewables goal. Additionally, Pungalia said, “While there are a lot of good promises at the central level for the power sector, the implementation at the state level needs to be looked at”.
