CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd (CG) has announced the rollout of the first power transformer from its new greenfield facility at Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.
Spread over 50 acres, this facility is India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing facility built for 220kV to 1200kV class power transformers with a capacity to rollout 35 power transformers every month. Gracing the occasion of the first transformer rollout was the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav.
The facility strengthens CG’s ability to serve critical sectors such as utilities, data centres, railways, renewable energy, oil and gas, and transmission infrastructure projects, globally. It will also support the company’s growing export business, a release from CG said.
Strengthening India’s HV equipment capability
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, said, “Power is a critical component in achieving our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. A facility such as this one, strengthens India’s capability in high-voltage transmission equipment and supports our transition from a power-deficit to a power-sufficient nation. Additionally, industrial investment of this nature in Madhya Pradesh generates opportunity for the local youth and uplifts communities. This facility from CG will create over 2,000 direct and indirect employment in Sehore. Our government will continue to ensure that every investment proposal signed in Madhya Pradesh becomes a working factory on the ground and continues to benefit the people of Madhya Pradesh.”
The Sehore plant’s rated capacity is 45,000 MVA per year, to be achieved in three phases. CG’s total capacity for transformers, in conjunction with capacity expansions at other plants, is seen rising to 1,20,000 MVA once the Sehore plant is fully commissioned. Pioneering electrical infrastructure

Up in 13-14 months

Sehore plant and its impact on overall capacity
The newly-commissioned Sehore plant (to be known as “T5”) will cater to power transformers (from 220kV to 1,200kV) will have annual manufacturing capacity of 45,000 MVA, to be implemented in three phases. Construction on the plant started in October 2025 following land acquisition completed in June 2025. The plant has begun commercial operations, with initial capacity of 10,000 MVA, and the first transformer was rolled out on September 4, 2026, as discussed in this story. Built with an investment of Rs.792 crore, T5 will cater to growing demand from renewable energy, data centres as well as exports.
CG has two other transformer manufacturing locations – T2 (Malanpur in Gwalior) and T3 (Mandideep in Bhopal) – both in Madhya Pradesh. The T2 unit caters to distribution transformers and has annual capacity of 10,000 MVA. The T3 unit, which makes power transformers, has witnessed progressive rise in annual manufacturing capacity from 25,000 MVA in October 2023 to 65,000 MVA today.
Both T2 and T3 are currently operating at 100 per cent capacity utilization.
CG’s total transformer manufacturing capacity arising from T2, T3 and T5 will reach 1,20,000 MVA once the T5 (Sehore) plant reaches full capacity. Of this, power transformer capacity will be 1,10,000 MVA, coming from T3 and T5.
CG, it is learnt, has also planned to enhance distribution transformer capacity of its T2 unit (Malanpur, Gwalior) from the current 10,000 MVA to 15,000 MVA.
