Resonia (formerly Sterlite Power) has won an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme in Andhra Pradesh, under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework.

Bid process coordinator PFC Consulting Ltd (PFCCL), on March 31, 2025, formally transferred the project SPV “Anantapur II REZ Transmission Ltd” to Resonia.

Incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFCCL, Anantapur II REZ Transmission Ltd houses the ISTS-TBCB scheme termed as “Transmission system S for integration of Anantapur-II REZ – Phase-I (for 4.5 GW).”

According to T&D India estimates, Anantapur II REZ represents the second ISTS-TBCB win for Resonia in FY25, following “Khavda IV C Power Transmission Ltd” that was formally acquired from REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) on August 30, 2024.

It is reliably learnt that Resonia was contending for the Anantapur REZ II project alongside two other bidders – Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL). Details on Resonia’s winning tariff are awaited.

With an estimated cost of Rs.4,679 crore, this scheme has an implementation period of 24 months.

Project outline

In a release, Resonia said that the Ananthapur-II REZ Phase-I project, involves the establishment of critical transmission infrastructure to evacuate 4.5 GW of renewable energy from the Ananthapur region in Andhra Pradesh. The project includes the construction of a large size greenfield pooling station at Ananthapuram-II (765/400kV and 400/220kV), along with the development of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Ananthapuram-II to Davangere (approximately 150 km) and Ananthapuram-II to Cuddapah (approximately 200 km). The scope also includes a ±300 MVAR STATCOM at Ananthapuram-II Pooling Station to enhance grid stability and reliability.

This is Resonia’s eleventh power transmission project in India under the TBCB process. With this project, the company now has approximately Rs.32,527 crore of projects under management, the release observed.

Integration of RE

According to Arun Sharma, CEO, Resonia Ltd., said, “The Ananthapur-II REZ Phase-I project will not only enhance the power transmission network in Andhra Pradesh but also serve as a critical link in the nationwide effort to integrate renewable energy into the grid. This project is significant as it marks Resonia’s entry into the Andhra Pradesh market, expanding our footprint in the southern states.”

ISTS-TBCB in FY25

Preliminary estimates by T&D India suggest that in FY25 (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025) a total of 45 interstate transmission schemes (ISTS) were formally transferred to successful developers, selected under the TBCB modality.
