Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd has commissioned a new cable production line at its manufacturing facility at Vadodara, Gujarat.

In a release, Diamond Power announced that it has successfully commissioned the eighth medium voltage (MV)/extra high voltage (EHV) power cable production line at its manufacturing facility at Vadodara, Gujarat.

The commissioning of the new line strengthens the company’s manufacturing capabilities in the technologically advanced MV and EHV underground power cable segment used in power transmission networks, power generation projects, renewable energy evacuation systems, urban underground distribution networks, metro rail systems, airports, data centers and industrial infrastructure, the release said.

Two more MV/EHV lines

Two additional MV/EHV cable lines are presently under installation and commissioning and are expected to become operational on or before March 31, 2027. Upon completion, the Company will operate a total of 10 MV/EHV lines at its Vadodara facility, the release noted.

Rising demand

Demand for MV and EHV underground power cables in India continues to be driven by investments in power transmission and distribution infrastructure, renewable energy integration, urban underground cabling projects and expansion of critical infrastructure. The MV and EHV cable segment remains technology-intensive manufacturing facilities, advanced testing infrastructure and stringent quality standards, resulting in significant entry barriers for new participants.

Important milestone

Commenting on the development, Ms. Nivedita Pandya, Vice President – Projects, said, “The commissioning of our 8th MV/EHV Line marks an important milestone in Diamond Power’s expansion programme. The additional capacity strengthens our ability to serve the growing requirements of utilities, power generation projects, renewable energy evacuation systems and urban underground power transmission networks. With two additional Lines under implementation, the company continues to strengthen its position in the MV and EHV cable segment.”
