Bajel Projects Ltd has formalised an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two contiguous sections — Lot 1 and Lot 5 — of a 500kV overhead transmission line, at a signing ceremony held in capital city Cairo.

A release by Bajel Projects said that the agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO, Bajel Projects Ltd, in the presence of H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, Ambassador of India to the Arab Republic of Egypt and senior dignitaries from Egypt and India, reflecting the strategic and diplomatic significance of the partnership.

The ceremony was graced by Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairman, Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and Eng. Ahmed Fathy, Head of Central Projects Sector, EETC.

The combined order falls under the ultra-mega category, valued at over Rs.400 crore, and forms part of a flagship national grid reinforcement programme aimed at strengthening Egypt’s highvoltage transmission backbone and enabling reliable power evacuation to support the country’s growing economic and industrial demand, the release said.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO, Bajel Projects Ltd, said: “Winning these orders is a defining moment for Bajel Projects. Being entrusted with a 500kV transmission corridor in the MENA region reflects the global confidence in our engineering capability, project execution rigour, and ability to deliver complex high-voltage infrastructure in international markets. This order strengthens our footprint in the MENA region.”

The agreement further consolidates Bajel Projects’ position as a trusted international EPC partner in the high-voltage transmission segment, complementing its strong domestic order book and recent international wins. It builds on the company’s growing MENA presence, including its 50:50 joint venture with the Al Sharif Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the recently launched subsidiary in Abu Dhabi, UAE by the name of Bajel T&D Projects and Contracting.

The presence of H.E. Suresh K. Reddy at the signing ceremony reflects the strong and deepening economic ties between India and Egypt, and the growing role Indian engineering and infrastructure companies are playing in the region’s power sector transformation, the release added.
