Resonia Ltd, in a release, formally announced the acquisition of 100 per cent equity stake in Balsane Power Transmission Ltd (BPTL).

In a release, Resonia said that the acquisition was made on September 28, 2026 and the project SPV BPTL represents an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra with 3 GW of power evacuation.

Spanning approximately 210 km across Dhule and Nashik districts, the project will strengthen power transfer within the state and support the integration of additional generation capacity into Maharashtra’s transmission network.

The project, awarded by the Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (STU), with REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) as the bid process coordinator, includes the establishment of a 765/400/220kV AIS substation at Balsane in Dhule, equipped with 2×1,500 MVA 765/400kV ICTs and 4×500 MVA 400/220kV ICTs.

The transmission network will connect Balsane with key nodes across Maharashtra through a combination of 765kV, 400kV, and 220kV transmission lines, including the proposed Malegaon Substation and the existing Shivajinagar and Vikharan substations.

First intrastate project in Maharashtra

Commenting on the development, Prashant Sinha, CEO, Resonia, said, “Maharashtra’s expanding power requirements and growing renewable energy capacity call for a transmission network that can support reliable and efficient power flows across the state. The Balsane project adds 3 GW of evacuation capacity and strengthens the transmission backbone between Dhule and Malegaon. Creation of 765kV network will strengthen the inter-connection of ISTS and InSTS network, enhance power transmission capacity and address the existing transmission system. Resonia has established a strong track record in developing and executing inter-state transmission projects across India, and the Balsane project marks an important milestone as our first intrastate transmission project in Maharashtra. The project also demonstrates Resonia’s focus on delivering critical grid infrastructure with scale, reliability and technology-led execution.”
