Bajel Projects Ltd has successfully completed and commissioned the 132kV Single Circuit Coventry – Waterworks, Coventry – Jimmy – Chawama transmission line project for ZESCO, in Lusaka, Zambia.

In a release, Bajel Projects said that the project involved the construction of three key transmission lines:

  1. Coventry – Waterworks (3.5 km)
  2. Jimmy – Chawama (7.5 km)
  3. Coventry – Jimmy (2.5 km)

This newly commissioned infrastructure will enhance grid reliability, reduce transmission losses, and support Lusaka’s increasing power demand—a critical step in ensuring long-term energy security for the region.

Challenges

Operating in a densely populated urban environment, Bajel Projects successfully navigated logistical constraints, congested corridors, and infrastructure limitations while ensuring minimal disruption to local communities. The project was delivered with an exemplary 116,642 safe man-hours and zero major incidents, showcasing Bajel Projects’ focus on execution excellence and safety, the release said.

Innovative Solutions

According to Rajesh Ganesh, MD & CEO, Bajel Projects, “Delivering complex power transmission projects in challenging environments requires a deep understanding of engineering, logistics, and execution discipline. This milestone reflects Bajel Projects’ ability to leverage innovative solutions, planning, and execution to enhance power infrastructure. We are proud to contribute to Zambia’s energy network with a project that reinforces efficiency, safety, and long-term reliability.”
