Bajel Projects Ltd has announced the winning of a new transmission line order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

In a release, Bajel Projects said that the order, valued at over Rs.300 crore, pertains to the transmission line package “TL04” for the 400kV double-circuit Siwani-Jind (PG) (quad) transmission line in Haryana, running around 99 km. The order is scheduled for completion in 18 months, the release noted.

This transmission line package is associated with an ISTS-TBCB scheme termed as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part 3: 6 GW), Bikaner Complex, Part B” that is being developed by Powergrid Siwani Transmission Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PGCIL.

Commenting on this achievement, Rajesh Ganesh, MD & CEO of Bajel Projects Ltd, “We are proud to contribute to the nation’s green energy initiatives by strengthening the transmission system for the REZ Ph-IV, Bikaner Complex. This project reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, timely, and efficient solutions that power India’s growth.”

This landmark order further cements Bajel Projects’ standing as a preferred and pivotal partner for intricate and high-value transmission infrastructure developments across India, critically advancing the nation’s energy transition and grid modernization initiatives, the release noted.

Bikaner Part-B

According to information available with T&D India but not contained in the Bajel Projects’ release, “Powergrid Siwani Transmission Ltd” (then known as “Bikaner B Power Transmission Ltd” was formally transferred to PGCIL by bid process coordinator REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) on November 11, 2024.

PGCIL won the project under the TBCB mode quoting a tariff of Rs.5,093.13 million per year, getting the better of other three other contenders that had qualified for opening of initial price bids.

The overall project, estimated to cost Rs.5,357 crore, involves the development of 934 ckm of transmission line spread over Rajasthan and Haryana, as well as 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity that will come up through a new 765/400kV, 6×1500 MVA substation at Siwani in Bhiwani district of Haryana. Currently under execution, the project is expected to commission by December 2026.

This project has a complementary “Part-A” that is also being developed by PGCIL under the TBCB framework, through its wholly-owned “Powergrid Bikaner IV Transmission Ltd,” earlier known as “Bikaner A Power Transmission Ltd.”
