BHEL: Order inflow up 23 per cent in H1FY25

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has reported a 23 per cent year-on-year growth in order inflows during the first half (H1: April to September) of FY25.

In an investor presentation, BHEL said that its order inflow in H1FY25 stood at Rs.41,087 crore, up 23 per cent from Rs.33,479 crore in H1FY24.

Power sector dominated the company’s H1FY25 order bookings with a share of 93 per cent.

As of September 30, 2024, BHEL outstanding order book was Rs.1,60,429 crore. Of this, 78.5 per cent came from the power sector while another 19.1 per cent was from the industry sector. The remaining 2.3 per cent was accounted for by exports.

It may be mentioned that BHEL’s products and services relating to the power T&D space, fall under the “Industry” line of business.

 

Prominent orders received in Q2FY25

Power Segment
  • EPC package for 2×800 MW Koderma (Phase-II) TPS, Jharkhand
  • EPC package for 1×800 MW Sipat (Stage-III), Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh
  • Supply of Boiler, Turbine and Generator package, including supervision of E&C, for
  • 2×800 MW Phase-II and 2×800 MW Phase III Kawai, Rajasthan
  • 2×800 MW Phase-III Mahan, Madhya Pradesh
  • Methanol Firing in Gas Turbine at Kayamkulam – Pilot project for demonstration of alternate fuel for existing gas assets
Industry Segment
  • EPC of 765kV AIS substation package for substations at Mandsaur and Indore
  • Supply of 500 MVA, 765kV transformers for Koppal-II and Gadag-II
  • Supply of 177 sets of 6531 kVA main transformers from Indian Railways
  • Supply of nine 700 HP diesel electric shunting locomotive from steel manufacturing company
Export Market
  • Supply of 2 nos. of 175 MW air-cooled synchronous generators for Mmamabula Thermal Power Project, Botswana

 

Surge in Q2FY25

In Q1FY25, BHEL had reported the winning of orders worth Rs.9,488 crore, implying that the order inflow in Q2FY25 was a whopping Rs.31,599 crore. The Koderma Phase-II order discussed above, placed by Damodar Valley Corporation, bolstered BHEL’s Q2FY25 order inflows. This single order is estimated to be in the region of Rs.13,000 crore.
