Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has received a major order related to an upcoming private sector coal-fired power plant in Madhya Pradesh.
In a regulatory filing, BHEL said that it has won an order valued at around Rs.2,600 crore (excluding GST) from MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Ltd.
The order, for which the letter of intent was accepted on September 3, 2025, involves supply of main plant equipment (boiler, turbine and generator, referred to as BTG) for the 1×800-MW coal-fired supercritical power project in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
To be completed in 58 months, the order entails supply of BTG and associated auxiliaries, along with control & instrumentation.
The formal contract between the two parties will be entered into shortly, BHEL said.
According to information independently available, MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Ltd, incorporated in 2008, is a subsidiary of Hindustan Thermal Projects Ltd (HTPL), which in turn, is a subsidiary of Hindustan Power Projects Pvt Ltd (HPPL) – the flagship entity of the Hindustan Power Group.
MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) currently operates a 1,250-MW (2×625-MW) coal-fired power plant in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh. It is further learnt that 65 per cent of this capacity is tied up through long-term power purchase agreements with Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The plant with original capacity 2×600-MW has been in operation since March 2016. The capacity of the two units was subsequently up-rated to 625 MW, taking the total installed capacity to 1,250 MW.
