Ukai TPS

The coal-fired Ukai thermal power station is located near Ukai Dam on Tapi River in Tapi district of Gujarat. The project site is around 90 km from Surat. Currently, the Ukai TPS has installed capacity of 1,110 mw coming from four units – two of 200 mw (Unit-3 and Unit-4), one of 210 mw (Unit-5) and one of 500 mw (Unit-6). Two units (Unit-1 and Unit-2) of 120 mw each formerly existed but were retired from service on March 31, 2017.  The Ukai TPS began commercial operations in March 1976 with the commissioning of Unit-1 (now decommissioned). The latest addition (Unit-6 of 500 mw) took effect in June 2013.
