Nagaland joins UDAY, total state count reaches 27
Nagaland, and three Union territories, are the latest entrants to the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY), the Central scheme for restructuring government-owned power distribution utilities. The three UTs are Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
PGCIL completes one section of Srinagar-Leh transmission line

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has successfully completed and charged the 220kV single-circuit Leh-Khalsti line, which is part of the longer 220kV single-circuit Srinagar (Alusteng)-Leh transmission line. Along with the Leh-Khalsti line spanning 63km, two 220/66kV GIS substations—at Leh and Khalsti—have also been commissioned.

Schneider Electric launches EcoStruxure Grid in Jaipur

Energy management and automation specialist Schneider Electric has made available its digital architecture, EcoStruxureTM Grid in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. The platform utilises disruptive technology to generate higher efficiency within utilities. The architecture is an open IoT-enabled framework for digital transformation of distribution utilities. EcoStruxureTM leverages the IT/OT convergence, thereby ensuring higher efficiency in grid operations, enabling overall digital transformation and optimal asset management, a release from Schneider Electric said.
ITI outbids Larsen & Toubro in reverse auction of mega smart meter tender

Central public sector unit ITI Ltd has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder in the reverse auction conducted by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) for the mega procurement drive of single-phase smart meters. Before the reverse auction, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was the lowest bidder.
PGCIL clinches ERSS-XXI transmission scheme in TBCB mode

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has been declared as developer (successful bidder) for the Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme (ERSS)-XXI in Bihar, which has an estimated cost of Rs.1,320 crore. In a stock exchange communication, PGCIL said that it received the letter of intent on October 17, 2017. The project was awarded using the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism.
EESL to make Guwahati Income Tax Office energy efficient

Income Tax Office (Aaykar Bhawan) at Guwahati in Assam has signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to retrofit existing inefficient lighting, fans and air conditioners with energy efficient appliances. This MoU was signed under the Buildings Energy Efficiency Programme (BEEP) that is being implemented by EESL. This is the first such project in the Income Tax Department, a release by EESL noted.
