GE T&D India: Order inflows more than double in 9MFY24

The new order inflows of GE T&D India Ltd during the first nine months of FY24 (9MFY24, April to December) more than doubled year-on-year.

According to an investor presentation filed on stock exchanges, the new order inflow of GE T&D India in 9MFY24 stood at Rs.4,456.2 crore – up 139 per cent from Rs.1,865.3 crore in the same period of FY23.

The order inflow during this period received a big boost in Q3FY24 (October to December) when Rs.2,368.1 crore worth of orders were received – more than thrice of the comparable Rs.779.9 crore in Q3FY23.

As of December 31, 2023, GE T&D India’s outstanding order book position was Rs.5,846.9 crore, which was dominated by private sector orders accounting for 72 per cent.

 

Key orders in Q3FY24

Key orders received in Q3FY24 included:

  • Supply of HVDC transformers for a project in South Korea from UK Grid Solutions Ltd (a GE Group Company)
  • Supply of 765kV power transformers and shunt reactors for various transmission system projects in India from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL)
  • Supply of 420kV GIS for Stage III (2×660-mw) NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL)
  • Construction of 765kV GIS substation at Khavda PS1 (KPS1-Augmentation) without civil work and GIS supply from Adani Energy Solutions
  • Supply and construction of 400kV GIS Substation at Babarzar from Gujarat Energy Transmission Company Ltd (GETCO)
  • Supply of 140 MVA, 220kV power transformers, 220kV gas insulated switchgear for a data center project in Maharashtra from a leading EPC company
  • Supply of 765kV current transformers,765kV capacitive voltage transformers for various 765kV substations, in major renewable energy zone (REZ) in Rajasthan from a leading EPC company
  • Construction of two 220kV sectionalizer bays on turnkey basis at Hindalco Lapanga from Aditya Birla Management Corporation
  • Supply of 500+ busbar relays in 49 nos of 220kV and 132kV substations from Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation

 

Projects commissioned

Some key projects commissioned in Q3FY24 were:

  • 46 transformers and reactors with cumulative capacity of more than 6700 MVA
  • 2 Dia 765kV Warangal-Warora Line AIS including 6 nos. 80 MVAR single phase reactors.
  • 400/220KV AIS kncluding 125MVAR 2 bus rectors and three 500MVA ICT at Renew Koppal
  • 80 MVA transformer at BPC Chumdo in Bhutan
  • 7 bays 132KVGIS, one 160MVA ICT and 1 bay of 220KV AIS at Power Grid, Kopili.

 

 

Surge in demand, says MD & CEO

According to Sandeep Zanzaria, Managing Director & CEO of GE T&D India, “As the pace of global energy transition accelerates with India spearheading the shift, our Q3 order book reflected a surge in demand – both in terms of domestic and exports. This, combined with our unwavering focus on optimization and strong order execution paved the way for improvement in profitability and the company becoming debt-free. We remain steadfast in our focus on serving the nation’s needs and significantly contributing towards ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
