Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd said that it aims to install at least 1 crore smart meters during FY27.
In a release, the company said that it was focused on executing on scale, with an aim of installing at least 1 crore smart meters during FY27, supported by annual manufacturing capacity of over 1.8 crore meters.
It may be recalled that in early February 2026, Genus Power had announced that it had reached a cumulative installation base of 1 crore meters under the RDSS programme.
Meanwhile, Genus Power also said that since all its smart metering projects have achieved go-live status, the company expects that its working capital intensity will improve progressively.
The company’s order book, including all SPVs and GIC Platform, stood at approximately Rs.24,020 crore as of June 30, 2026, excluding taxes, providing strong revenue visibility over the medium to long term.

According to Jitendra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Genus Power Infrastructures Ltd, “We commenced FY27 on a strong note, with Q1FY27 revenue growing 45 per cent year-on-year to Rs.1,365 crore, driven by continued execution of our smart metering order book, increasing rollout intensity and ramp-up across ongoing AMISP projects. We remain focused on improving the strong execution momentum witnessed in FY26.
We remain confident of achieving our FY27 revenue guidance of Rs.6,000–6,500 crore, supported by increasing execution across existing projects and conversion of the executable order book. We expect momentum to strengthen in H2FY27, supported by seasonality in installation activity.
Overall, we remain confident of sustaining strong growth in FY27, led by robust project execution, a sizeable executable order book and the structural growth opportunity in smart metering. While near-term margins remain impacted by elevated input costs, the progressive improvement in working-capital efficiency, growing O&M contribution and the transition to positive operating cash flows are expected to drive a meaningful improvement in earnings quality and strengthen the business’ long-term growth and value creation potential.”
Genus Power has estimated that the smart meter opportunity is substantial, with around 31-32 crore electricity meters expected to transition to smart meters. Further,
The smart metering opportunity remains substantial; with 31–32 crore electricity meters expected to transition to smart meters, and approximately 8–9 crore meters expected to be tendered during FY27, providing a strong runway/visibility for sustained growth.
