Goldi Solar has planned a new solar module manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 2 GW in Gujarat, taking the company’s total module capacity to 2.5 GW. The current manufacturing facility, also located in Gujarat, has an annual capacity of 500 mw.

The new facility has the following commissioning schedule:

  • Phase 1 of 1 GW by end of Q2 of FY22 (i.e. by September 30, 2021)
  • Phase 2 of 1 GW by end of Q4 of FY22 (i.e. by March 31, 2022)

Goldi Solar’s second facility, coming up at Navsari, will also see a new production line introducing a first-of-its-kind micro-gap module technology (MGMT). The new modules will have a gap of less than 0.75 mm as opposed to the standard 1.5 mm between the cells in the string. This ensures better coverage resulting in improved productivity and higher outputs. The line will feature both mono-facial and bi-facial modules, a release from Goldi Solar said.

Goldi Solar’s existing 500-mw facility is located in Pipodara. The new 2-GW unit is shaping up at Navsari, both locations are on the outskirts of Surat.

Amongst other notable features, the new high-efficiency modules will also have: mono-facial modules (> 500 Wp); bi-facial modules (> 600 Wp); M10 wafer size; multi-busbars (MBB); and, PERC solar cell technology, the release said.

Goldi Solar also has plans for backward integration through setting up of multi-gigawatt solar cell manufacturing line, and supporting the ecosystem through manufacturing of raw material used in solar modules.

According to Ishver Dholakiya, Founder & Managing Director, Goldi Solar, “Goldi Solar is proud to have grown from a 10 MW to a multi-gigawatt company in a short span. We are also thrilled to be the first domestic manufacturing company in India to introduce the micro-gap module technology. This year also marks ten years of renewed life.”

Commenting on the company’s expansion plan, Bharat Bhut, Co-founder & Director, Goldi Solar said, “Goldi Solar has been synonymous with quality modules since its inception. We have aggressive plans for Goldi’s growth and are looking to expand our manufacturing capacity to 5 GW. The facility expansion comes amid growing global demand for better technology and value from the solar panels. We also hope to penetrate newer markets with even higher quality modules, as well as meet the current and future needs of Goldi Solar’s customers.”
