The operational power transmission portfolio of IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust (IndiGrid) crossed the 8,500-ckm mark, as of June 30, 2025.

IndiGrid’s power transmission portfolio, as of June 30, 2025, aggregated 8,742 ckm of transmission lines and 20,050 MVA of transformation capacity, arising out of 18 operational projects.

The geographical footprint of these projects spanned 18 states and one Union territory (UT of J&K). The portfolio was largely dominated by TBCB projects that included 16 interstate schemes and one intrastate project in Haryana. Besides, IndiGrid has one project – a transmission line in Madhya Pradesh – for captive use. The portfolio also includes 6 RTM (regulated tariff mechanism) projects assigned to IndiGrid’s TBCB subsidiaries.

IndiGrid’s operational power transmission portfolio was incremented during Q1FY26 following the acquisition of an operational ISTS-TBCB scheme “Koppal Narendra Transmission Ltd. (KNTL)” On June 24, 2025, IndiGrid announced that it completed 100 per cent equity acquisition of KNTL from the original developer ReNew Transmission Ventures Pvt Ltd, at an enterprise value of around Rs.2,108 crore.

Commissioned in November 2023, KNTL is an interstate scheme located in Karnataka, with an asset base of 276 ckm of transmission lines and 2,500 MVA of substation capacity.

Under construction projects

IndiGrid’s under-construction power transmission portfolio, as of June 30, 2025, included four projects – all greenfield ISTS-TBCB schemes. This portfolio, spread over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and UT of Jammu & Kashmir, envisage 504 ckm of transmission lines and 5,000 MVA of transformation capacity. The four projects are housed under the following SPVs:

BESS portfolio

As of June 30, 2025, IndiGrid had two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects under construction that included a 180 MW/360 MWh scheme in Gujarat and a 250 MW/500 MWh in Rajasthan. Both these projects were secured under the tariff-based competitive bidding framework.

It may be recalled that in April 2025, IndiGrid commissioned India’s first regulated utility-scale standalone BESS project. This 20 MW/40MWh asset is located in Delhi and was awarded to IndiGrid by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd in October 2023. (Read full story dated April 5, 2025)
