KSB Ltd has received a major order from Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) for supply of boiler feed pumps.
In a stock exchange communication, KSB said that these boiler feed pumps will be deployed at two of NTPC’s upcoming supercritical power plants – Gadarwara STPP, Stage-II (2×800 MW) and Nabinagar STPP, Stage-II (3×800 MW).
“This is a prestigious order for KSB Limited for supplying these pumps to Supercritical Power plants in India. This gives us an opportunity to further strengthen our presence in the conventional energy market in India,” the KSB release noted.
The KSB communication elaborated that a total of 15 sets of main boiler feed pumps along with booster pumps, motors and accessories will be supplied for the two aforementioned power plants.
Delivery is scheduled between 20 months and 28 months from the date of award of contract, KSB said.
While the order value has not been disclosed, KSB will receive staggered payment based on milestones envisaged in the formal contract.
Upcoming plants
The Gadarwara super thermal power project (STPP) located in Madhya Pradesh currently has installed power generation capacity of 1,600 MW comprising two supercritical units of 800 MW each. Under the Stage-II expansion, similar capacity is being added.
The Nabinagar STPP, Stage-II (3×800 MW) project discussed in this story represents capacity expansion at the existing 3×660-MW Nabinagar STPP in Aurangabad district Bihar. The plant was earlier owned by Nabinagar Power Generating Company Ltd (NPGCL), an erstwhile subsidiary of NTPC Ltd that has now been amalgamated with the parent company. It may be mentioned that NPGCL was originally incorporated as a joint venture between NTPC and Bihar state government.
The Nabinagar Stage II expansion project is expected to cost nearly Rs.30,000 crore and is projected to supply power to home state Bihar, alongside other beneficiaries like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab.
The foundation stone for the Nabinagar Stage-II expansion was laid at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 30, 2025.
