Marsons Ltd has expanded its transformer manufacturing capacity, positioning the company as among the larger manufacturers in the country.

In a stock exchange communication, Kolkata-based Marsons Ltd said that it has expanded its annual transformer manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MVA per year.

“This positions the company among the larger transformer manufacturers in India by installed capacity,” the filing noted.

The expansion has been undertaken in view of the company’s existing order book and anticipated demand across multiple segments, Marsons said.

Demand for extra high voltage transformers continues from state utilities, independent power producers, and industrial customers. Ongoing execution includes a 160 MVA, 220kV class transformer for Inox and 50 MVA and 80 MVA, 132kV class transformers for West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company (WBSETCL), the filing noted.

The company has entered the inverter duty transformer (IDT) and WTG transformers, with ongoing supplies including projects for independent power producers (IPPs) and MAHAGENCO through EPC contractors, as well as WTG transformers for Inox Wind.

Within the medium power segment, the 10 MVA rating currently represents the highest volume of execution for the Company. Supplies are being made to state utilities in Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, either directly or through EPC contractors, enabling economies of scale and enhanced productivity, the filing added.
