Patel Engineering Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major hydropower project contract in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a release, Patel Engineering said it has been declared as the L1 bidder by North Eastern Electric Power Company Ltd (Neepco) —a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd — for a Rs.718-crore contract related to the 240-MW Heo hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh.
Located in Shi Yomi district of the northeastern state, the contract is scheduled to complete in 44 months.
The scope of works for Patel Engineering includes include construction of civil and associated infrastructure works, testing & commissioning of hydro-mechanical plant & machinery leading to successful operation and performance of all the generating units of the 240-MW Heo hydropower project.
The project, expected to generate 1,000 million units (MU) of energy annually, aims to improve power supply in the state and contribute to the balancing of the national grid, the release said.
In November 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved investment of Rs.1,939 crore for constructing the 240-MW Heo hydropower project in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project envisages three generation units of 80-MW each.
The project, with a gestation period of 50 months, will be executed by a joint venture between Neepco Ltd and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The Central government will provide Rs.127.28 crore as budgetary support towards building of enabling infrastructure like roads, bridges and transmission evacuation infrastructure. Another Rs.130.43 crore will be provided as financial assistance towards the state government’s equity contribution to the joint venture company.
