Srex Power India has landed a major order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to build four substations. The Noida-headquartered Srex Power has also clinched a mandate to build a substation for solar power evacuation in Rajasthan.

In a release, Srex Power India said that PGCIL had placed orders, collectively valued at Rs.58.10 crore, to build four 400kV substations, in northeastern and eastern India. The substations will be located at Imphal (Manipur), Bongaigaon (Assam), Surajmaninagar (Tripura) and Sitamarhi (Bihar).

Srex Power India, in a release, said that this tender was won amidst stiff competition from other contenders that included Bajaj Electricals, Kalpataru Power Transmission, Godrej & Boyce, Techno Electric, Bharat Heavy Electricals, Tesla Transformers, among others.

Sanjay Chatterjee, CEO & Director, Srex Power India, observed that project execution would be challenging due to difficult topographical conditions in northeastern India; inclement weather conditions owing to 6-7 months of monsoon in a year; as well as pandemic-related restrictions.

“Early completion of the projects would be the key. We are committed to commission these substations in the next 12 to 24 months. Srex Power is committed to strengthen and modernize India’s energy transmission network that will address the growing energy demand of the India,” Chatterjee said.

Rajasthan order

The renewable energy arm of Srex Power India also won an order worth Rs.22.40 crore to build a greenfield 220kV substation at Bikaner in Rajasthan. The order was placed by project developer ENEL Green Energy, and will help evacuation of power from the developer’s upcoming 300-mw solar power plant.
