Transrail Lighting Ltd has enhanced its conductor manufacturing capacity by 70 per cent.
In a release, Transrail Lighting said that it has completed its phase 1 of the brownfield expansion for conductor manufacturing at Silvassa in the UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (DNHDD).
With this expansion the company’s conductor manufacturing capacity has increased from 24,000 km per year to 40,800 km per year, the company said.
It is worthwhile to note that the company is in the process of further enhancing its conductor capacity under Phase-2 expansion, post which it will be double of its original capacity.
Commenting on the development, Randeep Narang, MD & CEO, stated, “This expansion marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Company’s conductor manufacturing capabilities which enhances its execution efficiencies and capacity to cater to growing markets.”
Capex plans
It may be noted that Transrail Lighting has planned to expand its conductor manufacturing to 49,500 km per year by December 2026, according to information previously released by the company. Of this, 40,800 km per year has been attained so far, as discussed in this story.
It may be recalled that in Q1FY27, Transrail fully commissioned its new tower manufacturing facility at Butibori near Nagpur, Maharashtra. By the end of Q2FY27, Transrail is expected to have total tower manufacturing capacity of 196,000 tonnes per annum (tpa), which is twice the capacity that existed before the greenfield (Butibori) and brownfield expansion plans were launched.
Butibori has become Transrail’s third tower manufacturing facility after those in Deoli (Maharashtra) and Vadodara (Gujarat).
In a related development, on May 26, 2026, the board of Transrail Lighting announced a capital expenditure plan of Rs.203 crore, primarily to source construction equipment.
