Unit-2 of Meja thermal power project to go commercial soon

NTPC, in a stock exchange filing on January 29, 2021, said that the Unit-2 of its Meja thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh will start commercial operations on January 31, 2021.

The Meja power plant, promoted by Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd (MUNPL), has two 660-mw supercritical coal-based power units. MUNPL is an equal joint venture, formed in 2008, between NTPC and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Utpadan Nigam Ltd.

With this, the total commercial capacity of MUNPL and NTPC Group will become 1,320 mw and 63,925 mw, respectively. NTPC Group includes NTPC Ltd along with its subsidiaries and joint ventures.

On November 17, 2020, T&D India reported that Unit-2 of the Meja power project was likely to turn commercial by December 2020. (Read full story)
