Vikram Solar has commissioned a solar project atop “The 42” — Kolkata’s tallest skyscraper.

Mounted on the 64th floor (the rooftop) of the residential building, the 22.5-kW rooftop solar plant consists of 60 solar panels, covering an area of around 116 sqm.

The solar plant can potentially generate 33,674 kwh of green energy per year, and is expected to annually save 36.14 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Saibaba Vutukuri, CEO, Vikram Solar, shared on the occasion, “I congratulate Chowringhee Residency Pvt. Ltd for taking a step ahead towards sustainability. This project to install and commission a solar plant on “The 42” was prestigious as well as challenging. The successful commissioning of the solar plant re-iterates our dedication and commitment to uphold quality and customer-centricity at all costs, in any circumstances.”

He added, “Starting its endeavours from Kolkata, Vikram Solar has deep-seated roots in the community of West Bengal. Therefore, each solar project within this state holds a special place for us.”

With the proven capacity to handle utility-scale projects (200 MW for APGENCO in Andhra Pradesh, 130 MW for NTPC at Bhadla-Rajasthan, 80 MW for GIPCL at Charanka- Gujarat, 40 MW for IL&FS at Kachaliya- Madhya Pradesh), innovative projects (India’s first floating solar), and airport installations (Calicut, Kolkata, Kochi, Dibrugarh, Gaya, and Gondia), Vikram Solar is contributing to the growth of Indian solar revolution. The company has served clients like- NTPC, WBSDCL, GIPCL, BEL, BHEL, ISRO, IOCL, SBI, APGENCO, IMFA, Century Ply, KBL, etc, a release from Vikram Solar said.
